Smoking Cigarette Box Black Lacquer Vintage Japan Mother-of-Pearl 9"x4" Asian
This is a vintage Japanese smoking accessory box that is black lacquer with mother of peal decoration. The box measures 9 1/4" x 4" x 1 3/4" tall. There are 2 compartments inside. One is circular and once had an ashtray. Ashtray is gone now. The opening for ashtray measures 2 3/8" diameter. There is another compartment for cigarettes that measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 7/8" (there may or may not have been a lid on this compartment originally). The outside lid is decorated with traditional Japanese style picture...pagoda house, water, birds flying and on the water and two figures. There is some paint / lacquer lose on inside where lid hits bottom edge...very minor but I want to mention. This is a vintage pre-owned item.
